The basement is very small so working area was a small challenge, however, the main challenge was to provide enough ventilation to stop condensation forming when laundry was being washed & dried.
Project Details
Damp and cramped with timber beams, the space was used for a freezer, storage space and the storage tank for the hot water and heating for the house.
The beams were braced and supports removed, allowing for more space in the middle of the room. A new concrete floor was laid and a cavity drainage membrane waterproofing system, linked to a sump & pump was installed.
The new utility room would be used for laundry, so the likelihood of increased condensation was very high, a full ventilation system had to be installed to combat this issue.
